Pls both state your names and your occupation?

BT: I’m B. Thom Stevenson, I am an artist, and co-founder of House of Miracles and Miracle Seltzer.

JSW: I’m Jason S. Wright, also an artist and co-founder of Miracle Seltzer.

What is the meaning behind the name Miracle?
Miracle

JSW: A good friend and I were talking about all the Miracles we had witnessed in our lives and how we could share those experiences with more people and landed on a water company called Miracle. The idea being that Miracles are as abundant on earth as water, you just have to shift your perspective to look for them. When one turns their attention to the good or miraculous, your world begins to open up to this new dimension of love and gratitude, at least that’s how its worked for us. House of Miracles is our chance to share that philosophy with the world through using the mediums we are good at.

What is your practice on coming up with the names in general ?

JSW: All of it is in service of supporting the community that has supported B Thom and myself over the years. We wouldn’t be where we are today with out all of our friends and collaborators so it is essential to us to give back what has been given to us. Also, we are both obsessive researchers and consumers of art and fashion so we are constantly seeking out new inspiration whether that being historical or contemporary, and the studio visits and artist grants, give us the opportunity to learn more while connecting with our community at a deeper level.

BT: I am attracted to small words or phrases that communicate BIG IDEAS. A lot of what we work on has the language of Spirituality and Art History, because that is what we know, practice and love. These loaded words are also just a grouping of letters until an individual or group projects personal meaning onto them. I’m really attracted to the concept that art isn’t complete until the viewer assigns their own personal meaning to the work.

JSW: Names have to have the right feeling, you just know when it comes out of your head if it works or not.

Why choose Seltzer ?

BT: Water is the world's most plentiful resource. A blank slate. A viscous fluid waiting to be charged with creative energy.

JSW: Personally, I love seltzer and I remember telling B. Thom in the beginning, that if we order 10,000 cans and no one wants them then I would drink them. Luckily, people liked them and we have ordered many more cans since then. Pure seltzer will always be my favorite beverage so it only makes sense to make the product you love.

I want to start a Seltzer Company, What’s First ?

BT: You have to find cans! There has been a massive global aluminum shortage due to supply chain issues. Once you find cans you need to find a canning facility willing to take on a new small company. We have been extremely lucky.

JSW: I say just drink Miracle Seltzer.

Any Fuck this… moment on making the seltzer company ?

BT: We are essentially running a massive art project as a business, all under this idea we call House of Miracles INC. It can be a lot to juggle, but also forces us to focus on what truly matters. We keep each other focused, we have so much good stuff coming.

JSW: As B Thom mentioned the seltzer is the keystone at the foundation of our expansive creative practice. The idea being seltzer can go many places that our art usually doesn’t giving us and our friends a platform to work on all of the artistic endeavors that we can dream up. Water is the essence of the universe and in our practice it is what fuels us to build the world we want to be a part of.

Pls tell us a little about the Exhibition Program on Paradise Gallery in MA Is that an old church ?

BT: There’s a little church on a quiet street in a small town that I call Paradise Gallery. Yeah! After moving out of NYC back to Sutton, a sleepy farm town in rural Central Massachusetts, the biggest thing I missed was the art world. So I started Paradise Gallery, a contemporary art exhibition space in an old baptist church (built in 1808). The building hasn’t functioned as a church in decades and was on the verge of being torn down when my father acquired it and restored it by hand. Currently I show one painting from one artist per month.

Also Artist Grant Program and studio visit that you guys run with The House of Miracle.

BT: The House of Miracles exists as platform to support our community of artists. The Artists grants are Micro-Grants meant to give artists some help starting a project, paying their studio rent or just to purchase supplies. For young emerging artists a little can really go a long way.

You guys are both artists what is the difference on painting on canvas and printing on fabrics.

BT: There are a lot of similarities up to a certain point. We see the clothing me make as part of our studio practices. I will say painting is much more personal journey. Where as the dry goods/clothing we make for Miracle is an exciting collaborative process where Jason and I hand off designs back and forth to each other until they feel good. It’s a little bit DADA, a little bit “exquisite corpse”, and really, really fun.

JSW: I’m such a visual person that I constantly want to make things I can see take on new life out in the world and that isn’t limited to pieces that hang on a wall. I have had the opportunity to apply my aesthetic preferences and design sensibilities to many objects and it all begins with me asking myself what I want my reality to look like. Nothing quite feels as good as taking an idea you have in your head and seeing it through.

You guys literally runs everything in-house, Which part does miracle put the most weight on. And Which process do you like the best and worst ?

BT: House of Miracles’ number 1 baby is the 12oz can of Miracle Seltzer, but most of our time is spent on clothing and collaborations. I love spinning up small projects with artists and working to achieve a collaborative vision. How ever, the logistics can be a bore.

JSW: The seltzer is the essence of the company that has the furthest reach, it can carry our message into the lives of so many more than the clothing can and for that reason it gets a lot of our focus but working with our community on collaborations and other creative projects is really what makes this fun for us and drives us to keep going.

Last collection was themed based on a cross country road trip from Richmond Virginia to LA, any backend stories from that trip ?

BT: We drove a giant sprinter van across the United States, stopping to have studio visits with Artists (Peter Sutherland, Maia Ruth Lee, Josh Elrod, etc.) and shopping at flea markets and thrift stores. The van was really comfortable but really top heavy. It was all wheel drive so we woul;d veer off the beaten path to check out land art sculptures like Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty. Jason was driving, I think, and we decided to venture into the middle of nowhere, in the middle of a blistering wind storm for the once in a lifetime chance to see Michael Heizer’s Double Negative. The “road” to get there is 12 miles of winding hills and loose sand. We got about 100 yards down the path and started to feel the van leaning to one side. The dashboard lit up and alarms started beeping and these small words appeared “Roll Warning”, meaning the van was ready to tip over. We stopped, slowly backed up and headed to Las Vegas.

Any theme for the upcoming collection ?

BT: This season’s theme is “Question Reality” and it’s very abstract about examining your perspectives of the world.

JSW: Question your reality, does your life look the way you want it? Change starts with a vision, by simply shifting your perspective you can begin to mold your reality.

What’s the future for Miracle?

JSW: Who knows? Continuing to delight in the Miraculous with our friends and loved ones remaining here now…also a really exciting can collaboration with Brain Dead!
