つづいて螺旋構造のようなブリッジが特徴的な『1015』について。プロダクトの原型となるプロトタイプを手がける職人の視点。「一般的に、ブリッジが2つになっているパーツをつくる際には、2つの部品をロウ付けします。2つのピースや3つのピースを別の状態で接合していくと、当然強度は落ちます。このプロダクトに関しては、一見するとツーブリッジですが、パーツは1つで繋がっているワンピースのものなんです。まずそこが特殊なポイント。このデザインをワンピースの部品でやりたいというデザインをもらって、伝わるものがありました。自分もプロなので、真正面からぶつかって、なんとかして実現させたいし、自分自身も楽しみたい。このワンピースの部品は正直今まで手がけたことのないレベルでした」。熟練の職人も手を焼くレベルのデザインに、通常1〜2日程度で製作されるプロトタイプに、パーツの製作だけで1週間の時間を費やしたという。ブリッジ自体の曲線や、フレームとの接地面の形状などを意識しながら、実際に量産する際に生じるであろう諸問題にも配慮しながら、プロトの製作を進める。「プロトはあくまで雰囲気を見るためだけのものなので、はっきり言って、プロト上ではツーブリッジにしても構わないんですけどね。でもその段階からワンピースでつくって見せる方が、イメージも伝わりますし、すぐに理解してもらえる。要するに第一印象ですよね」。デザインしている側が、デザインの細部を語ることをせずともキャッチして、何が求められているかを表現してプロトに落とし込む。デザインという言語を捉え、量産に向かうための道筋を整え、製品になった時の出立ちを想像させる重要なスタート地点。複雑なデザインではあるが、それによってプロフェッショナルを触発し、新たなプロダクトが生まれていた。〈EYEVAN 7285〉のデザインを見ていて思うのは、ここまで細かい部分にこだわっているのにも関わらず、自己満足になっていない感じがするんです。大概くどくなったりするんですけど、押し付けがましさがなく、凛としているというか。とても佇まいが良いんです」。
　互いの探究心が高い次元で均衡しているからこそ、その工程を知らずとも、ぐっと心を摑まれる。そしてその背景にあるストーリーを知れば、どんどんと深みにハマっていくような感覚に襲われる。ひとつのプロダクト、さらに細かく見ればひとつの部品には、多大な労力とアイデアがふんだんに詰め込まれている。

Next is the ‘1015’, which has a distinctive, spiral-like bridge structure. This is the perspective of the craftsman who handles the prototype that forms the basis of the product. 'Generally, when creating a part with two bridges, two components are soldered together. However, when two or three pieces are joined in separate states, the strength naturally decreases. However, for this product, although it appears to be a two-bridge design, the parts are actually one continuous piece. That's the first unique point. When I received the design request to achieve this look with a single-piece component, I knew it was something I wanted to do. As a professional, I wanted to take it on, figure out how to make it happen and enjoy the process. Honestly, this single-piece component was unlike anything I'd worked with before. The design posed such a challenge that even seasoned craftsmen struggled. While prototypes typically take one to two days to produce, fabricating the parts alone took a full week. We progressed with the prototype, taking into account the bridge's curves and the shape of its contact points with the frame, while also anticipating potential issues that would arise during mass production. It wouldn't matter if it were a two-bridge design at this stage. However, presenting it as a single piece from the outset conveys the image better and gets the point across immediately. It's all about that first impression.' The designer captures the essence without needing to explain every detail, expressing what is required and translating it into the prototype. This is a crucial starting point, involving grasping the language of design, paving the way for mass production and imagining how the product will present itself. Although the design is complex, it inspires professionals and gives rise to new products. Looking at EYEVAN 7285's designs, I notice that, despite this meticulous attention to detail, they never feel self-indulgent. It could easily become cloying, but it avoids being pushy, maintaining a dignified presence. Its overall presence is truly excellent. The mutual curiosity is balanced at such a high level that it grips your heart, even without knowing the process. Once you learn the story behind it, you find yourself sinking deeper and deeper into its depths. Even a single product, or indeed a single part, is packed with immense effort and abundant ideas.
